Resolution 19

INTERDENOMINATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

1 WHEREAS, The 2005 General Presbytery has adopted an amendment to its proposed
2        revision of General Council Bylaws Article IX, Section 11; and
3 WHEREAS, The General Presbytery felt it advisable to add further refinement to its
4        proposal; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, That the words "or ecumenical" be added to the title and in two places in the
6        second paragraph so that the proposed Section 11 will read:
7        Section 11. Interdenominational or Ecumenical Relationships
8        The General Council of the Assemblies of God encourages
9        ministers or churches to fellowship with other Christians of like
10        precious Faith who hold to the inspiration of Scripture, the deity of
11        Christ, the universality of sin, the substitutionary atonement, the
12        physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and His second
13 coming.
14        The General Council of the Assemblies of God shall not belong
15        to any interdenominational or ecumenical organization that denies the
16        evangelical beliefs stated in the above paragraph, and urges its
17        ministers and churches to avoid entanglement with such
18        interdenominational or ecumenical organizations except as
19        opportunity may arise to support Biblical values in the culture or
20        provide opportunity to bear witness to our evangelical and
21        Pentecostal faith and experience.

Martin Luther said, "If I profess with loudest voice and clearest exposition,
every portion of the truth of God except that little point which the World and
the Devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however
boldly I might be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of
the soldier is proved. And, to be steady on all battlefields besides, is mere
flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."

Brethren, how can this be?
* 17 "avoid entanglement"
We know that the Roman Catholic Church does not possess the Biblical means of
salvation-"Salvation-Grace through Faith, and Faith Alone." It is all of
faith, all of God-not of men nor Church particularly and especially "The Church of
Rome". The Roman churches way of reaching heaven strictly by pennance, works,
and finally the pains and torment of purgatory is not God's love, is not God's way.

Jesus Christ is the only way! The blood is all sufficient. It is love to
preach and tell the truth about this great love that God made the way through his
son Jesus. It is love to remove the falsehood of these lies and torments that when a
man dies he must be cleansed and purged in the flames of purgatory to be made
ready to enter heaven. It is not the love of God to preach-teach-or
convey in any manner or fashion this type of thinking. Is this
love? We ask you again, Is this love?

We love the Catholic people enough to alarm and enlighten them of the truth.
May all experience this great salvation through repentance of their sins and
receiving by faith God's provision into their heart-Jesus Christ, The Righteous!
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are you saved through faith; it is a gift of God:" v.9
":not of works, lest any man should boast." Romans 5:1, "Therefore being justified
by faith, we have peace with God through or Lord Jesus Christ:"

       The answer to the sin question?-Is the blood of Jesus Christ.
       Revelation 1:5,"Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his Own Blood."

Conclusion
We could not find a more fitting conclusion than Dr. Boettner's"
"The Constitution on the Church(Roman) makes it abundantly clear that Rome has
no intention of revising any of her basic doctrine, but only of updating her
methods and techniques for more efficient administration and to present a more
attractive appearance. This is designed to make it easier for the Eastern Orthodox,
Anglican, and Protestant churches to return to her fold. There is no indication that
she has any intentions of entering into genuine give-and-take church unity
negotiations. Her purpose is not union, but absorption. Church union with Rome
is strictly a one-way street. The age-old danger that Protestantism has faced
from the Roman Church has not diminished; in fact, it may well have increased.
For through this less-offensive posture and this superficial ecumenicism, Rome
is much better situated to carry out her program of eliminating opposition and
moving into a position of world dominance. An infallible church simply
cannot repent."
